With aesthetics on the rise in digital marketing, it’s time for you to stand out from the crowd with this copywriter hack ~
by Summer Sharma:
Website development, design, lights camera action! In today's world SEO & ranking above the crowd is the key to getting that sale. So, my business owners, let’s sit around and talk about what really matters for your website ~ spoiler alert, it's not going to be your design.
You might have heard the term SEO thrown around when you've researched “how to build a website,” and it is the most important thing you will invest (time not money) into getting a high ranking website.
I remember when I first started my SEO journey I was sad, confused, overwhelmed and thought, “ Man, I’d rather pay someone to do this for me.”
Honestly you can, but that’s not what we’re talking about…
In the next 15 minutes that it takes you to read this blog post, you will have the building blocks to understand WHAT SEO is and then you can learn HERE how to use it for your website.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s talk about what SEO is and why your website SEO is crucial to make you grow.
Because without SEO, no one will know you exist.
SEO SHOWS PEOPLE YOU EXIST
You, me, your best friends and family are searching for things. Did you know on average that there are about 5.4 billion (yes with a B) searches on google DAILY? People are curious creatures that love learning & combing through new things everyday.
SEO helps Google and other search engines analyze your website and see if it is a right “fit” for searchers.
The tip here is the more your website shows that it is valuable & google realizes it is what people are looking for, you start to rise to the top and become the first recommendation.
SEO WORKS FOR ANY NICHE
If you think about Reddit, there is a subsection for every subreddit known to man. This happens the same way with your website. Online there are so many niches within a niche, you don't have to worry about being left in the dust. You especially don't need to worry about choosing a “well known” niche because if you use the correct keywords on your website, the people are specifically looking for your business will land up in your lap.
Pro tip, run the most popular words for your business into an online website SEO analyzer and pick 3-5 that generate the most traffic.
SEO HELPS YOU STAY RELEVANT
Let’s talk about it, and it might get a little spicy. Are you like every other business owner trying to keep up on social media with its changing algorithms? Trust me, been there, done that and ya girl got BURNT out. How many times did you have to re-record or re-write your social media captions just to realize that there is a new tip to grow faster!
Take a breath. I have the ice pack to relax your tired and swollen mind. One definite way to push social media algorithms to the curb is to focus on your website SEO. This specific type of SEO is a long-term strategy and will always generate traffic.
In order to keep your website relevant & up to date is by having a blog that addresses the questions your ideal customers and clients have and using high searched SEO terms sprinkled throughout.
You might be thinking, “Summer, Google Chrome goes through updates too.” And you’d be correct, BUT to that I’d say that the updates help Google BETTER find the keywords your website uses.
And unlike Instagram, Google won’t shoot you a notification saying that “Reels” are a new feature. Yes, I’m still a little salty about that one. They rolled out reels right when I got used to carousels. But, that’s a different topic and after about 1 month of the new feature, I now have fun with them.
But let’s hop back to SEO. Google crawls through its database of billions of website’s every few months to make sure the most relevant content rises to the top, while the not so relevant sink to the bottom. To be at the top of your Google and website SEO game, my pro tip is to have a blog & update it with a post 2X a month.
FINAL THOUGHTS ~
SEO in general can be overwhelming, and writing your own website with SEO can have you feel like Alice in wonderland wondering why you ever followed that rabbit down the overwhelming rabbit hole, but it doesn’t have to be like that.
Once you put all your work into writing your website with the proper SEO, you are on the right path to ranking high on Google.
I also recommend that you analyze your website once every few months to make sure that you are staying relevant in Google & your customer’s eyes.
You can either invest in a copywriter to do this tedious task for you or do it yourself, but this is a step that most business owners forget about. If you don’t find the holes in your website when it comes to SEO, you’re going to either stay at the bottom or slowly sink there while your competitors thrive.
It’s time for you to take your business to the next level!
